andrea tamayo - my band: podhom :*

My band name is PODHOM, and the album is A POET IN YOUR POCKET :)

The story is this:

One day, i realized i wanted to be a singer, but i didn't know how to do it. I went to talk to my best friends Betsy and Valeria, and they told me it was really hard to succeed in this business. I understood that, so i decided to learn to play guitar and write some songs. I didn't have much inspiration so i asked my friends to tell me about some experiences of their own (like boys and love and break ups and stuff like that), and they told me some good stuff to write about. We actually thought this was a lot of fun, and i decided i didn't want to have a solo career yet, maybe a band would be nice. We thought we could start a band together and call it podhom :* Since i already started searching for some agents and some record deals, i went to this record and told the manager it wanted to have a band instead. He actually thought this was a pretty good idea, but my friends needed to learn to play an instrument or to sing.

My friends were very open to the idea so we all learned to play something. I did electric guitar, valeria did bass and betsy did piano, and we all were singing, but this wasnt enough for a band so we did that thing most artist do, like recruit a band to play in our shows. This band had a drums boy, another guitar, and some other details.

The manager liked the idea, but couldn't sign with us. So we started to drop demos at every office until someone called us. It was from hollywood record, they wanted to sign us and make a reality TV show with our story.

Our reality TV show was very successful and the people really liked our music. Our music is kind of rock/pop, (more rock than pop) like, the perfect combination, so it was appropiate for all ages. Our fans started supporting us, more and more until we did our first headlining tour in summer '08. The name of the tour was " a poet in you pocket tour" because of our cd, that has the same name. The name was because our songs were like poems, so when you buy you cd its like you have our poems on you, like having US (the poets) with you :)
